Utah pole barn prices (2026)

Plan on roughly $15–$40 per square foot for a professionally built post-frame shell. That's the national range from HomeGuide's January 2026 guide and Angi. We don't know of a Utah-specific survey, so the table below uses national figures. Your bids may come in higher in Salt Lake and Utah counties and lower in rural areas.

Add-ons people ask about

  • Lean-to: $15–19/sf (HomeGuide). A cheap way to get covered trailer parking.
  • Spray foam: $1.00–4.50 per sq ft of surface (HomeGuide). Worth it if you plan to heat a shop through a Utah winter.
  • Windows: $150–1,000 each in new construction (HomeGuide).
  • Permits: $500–2,000 (HomeGuide). Some Utah cities also charge impact fees.
  • Finished interior: $35–110/sf on top of the shell for living or office space.

What raises a Utah quote

  • Bench and canyon lots. Sloped parcels in Alpine, Mapleton, or Eden need cut-and-fill work and taller posts on the downhill side.
  • Snow and wind design. Required roof loads rise with elevation. Builders use the load your city or county requires, and canyon-mouth areas can need extra wind bracing.
  • HOA aesthetics. Stucco or stone wainscot, matching roof pitch, or architectural shingles to fit the house can add a lot.
  • Tall doors. 14–16 ft RV doors call for taller walls and heavier headers.
